My first race in the colors of Tri-Plex Sport.

As the end of the season race this one was going to be fast. And with only a cycle and a run it proved to be exactly that. With the difficult cycle route the strong cyclists pushed the pace right from the beginning and soon I was left left in no mans land with Theo in front of me and Stuart pushing the pace in the front. With the hills looming in front of me like mountains I ran out of gears on the big hills and just kept forcing myself upwards with every pedal. This was by far the most difficult cycle route I have raced since Grabouw in the beginning of the year, and with training not at full force I am happy with what I managed to do this weekend.

Nearing the end of the cycle route I was glad that I could get off my bike and start running. With an exact repeat of the Durbanville Triathlon entering transition in 4th place I knew it was going to be difficult catching the runners in front of me. I quickly settled into a comfortable pace and starting building from there. The run route was fast and flat so the speed was high. I caught 3rd place halfway through the run route and tried to close the gap to Theo, but on the day he was just too fast.
