Jailbreak Triathlon - Brandvlei Dam

Jailbreak Triathlon - Brandvlei Dam
9th of December saw the last triathlon event of the year happening, Jailbreak at Brandvlei dam near Worcester. This usually a very important event for most because some are either looking forward to a break and for others this was an important benchmark for Ironman 70.3 and Ironman next year. With one member of the team getting married and a few attending the wedding we were a few members short but Cape Auto Centre Multisport Team once again were there in full force ready to take on the challenge!
Conditions were warm and a bit windy but nothing too serious. The team had 3 entrants in the Maximum Escape and 10 entrants in the Minimum Escape. It was a staggered start with the Maximum Escape starting at 07h00 and the Minimum Escape just after 08h00. After a choppy start in the water everyone got out and had a decent bike ride. This event being a non-draft legal race, meaning you had to rely on your own power alone for the bike course, the wind did hinder everyone a bit, but not even this could hold the team back as everyone had a good bike. The run started just as the sun decided to show its full might and the race suddenly got just a little bit harder. Luckily Jailbreak was a very well organized event and there were enough fluids on course to cool you down and thanks to our sponsor Glider Eyewear, the sun did not affect our run as the team produced some good running splits to finish the race strongly.
Team Cape Auto Centre Multisport again achieved some great results. Henry Wolstenholme was the 1st Vet and 3rd overall in the Maximum Escape whilst Morne van Greunen took 8th place and Andre Gerber took 12th spot all with excellent times. In the minimum Kobus Fourie took 4th place in the seniors and Cornelis Engelbrecht took 8th place in the seniors. For the ladies Colleen de Oliveira took 3rd place overall and 2nd in the open ladies, Elma van Noordwyk was the 1st Vet lady and Cathy Weedall to 6th place in the seniors. The rest all produced great results and good positions.
It was a great day for racing and a very well organized event, thanks to the Jailbreak organizers and all our sponsors for enabling us to enjoy this sport that we well and truly love to compete.
Thanks to our sponsors, 32Gi Nutrition, Glider Eyewear, Virgin Active and Power Protection Testing and Quali Juice.
